Photo reminding me of a Gabriel Garcia story.

This picture reminds me of Innocent Erendia. The road is neighbored by dirt and weeds leading to an unknown place, just as the desert was for Erendia as she left the the place she knew.

Little Things- Raymond Carver

I enjoyed this short story because it displays an everyday problem in a simple yet effective manner. I also liked the ambiguous ending because it left me wanting more of the story, and for some reason being left hanging after reading something always gives me a weird sense of enlightenment.

I am a Rhinoceros

I am a rhinoceros when going out to eat with friends. When they are getting dessert I cannot resist!

I am Berenger

I have been to many get togethers where alcohol has been present and I am always able to resist the peer pressure that I'm faced with to drink.

Song lyrics as poetry

Wordplay- Jason Mraz

"I've been all around the world
I've been a new sensation
But it doesn't really matter
In this ge-generation
The sophomore slump is an uphill battle
And someone said that ain't my scene
'Cause they need a new song
Like a new religion
Music for the television
I can't do the long division
Someone do the math
For the record label puts me on the shelf up in the freezer
Gotta find another way to live the life of leisure
So I drop my top,
Mix and I mingle
Is everybody ready for the single and it goes...

Ha La La La La
L-listen closer to the verse I lay
Ha La La La La
It's all about the wordplay
Ha La La La love
The wonderful thing it does
Because, because
I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's
Yeah The Mr. A to Z
They say I'm all about the wordplay

When it's time to get ill I got your remedy
For those who don't remember me
Well let me introduce you to my style
I try to keep a jumble And the lyrics never mumble
When the music's makin' people tongue-tied
You want a new song
Like a new religion
Music for the television
I can't do the long division
Someone do the math
For the people write me off like I'm a one-hit wonder
Gotta find another way to keep from goin' under
Pull out the stops,
Got your attention
I guess it's time again for me to mention
The wordplay

Ha La La La La
L-listen closer to the verse I lay
Ha La La La La
It's all about the wordplay
Ha La La La love
The wonderful thing it does
Because, because
I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's
Yeah The Mr. A to Z
They say I'm all about the wordplay

I built a bridge across the stream of consciousness
That always seems to be a flowin'
But I don't know which way my brain is goin'
Oh the rhymin' and the timin'
Keeps the melodies inside me
And they're climbin'
'Till I'm running out of air
Are you prepared to take a dive into the deep end of my head
Are you listening to a single word I've said?

Ha La La La La
Listen closer to the words I say
Ha La La La La
I'm Stickin' with the wordplay
Ha La La La Love
The wonderful thing it does
Because, because
I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's
Yeah The Mr. A to Z
They say I'm all about the wordplay

Ha La La La Love
I'm all about the wordplay
Ha La La La Love
I'm stickin' with the wordplay
Ha La La La Love
I love the wonderful thing it does
Because, because of
The ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's fall back in love
For the Mr. A to Z they say
is all about the wordplay"

Throughout this song there are numerous allusions from people looking for a new faith to mathematic equations. He also displays irony about how people always want something new and more of what they have, yet when these things are received it is never enough.

City That Does Not Sleep

I enjoyed this poem because I felt as though I can relate to it. I have trouble sleeping and on some nights when I lay restless I begin to wonder what will become of my life. These thoughts are accompanied with thoughts of there possibly being another person somewhere around the world who is thinking of the same things as me, and for some reason I feel like this poem relates to these things in some way.

Ode to an Onion

This poem really brings out the greatness of an onion. One of the most valuable vegetables, in my opinion, that enhances the flavor of many dishes. I also found the way Neruda compared an onion to singing birds and the earth to be rather clever.
